In Matthew 27:18-19 we read, Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
For many years, congregations that are part of the Unity of the Brethren have combined their efforts to carry out this commission by working through the Mission Board of the Unity. At the present time, the Mission Board is supporting Rob and Anne Thiessen in Southern Mexico, Jill Miller currently serving in Southern India at a Birth Attendant School (in January 2008, she will move on to Sudan, Africa), and Michael and Caroline Woo in Southeast Asia.
At the September 2007 meeting, the Board addressed changes in items for the 2008 Missions Budget. Tony and Dora Bragg are now in the United States and do not plan to return to Jordan , so they are not included in the budget for 2008. Earlier this year, the Board had agreed to end support for Compassionate Hearts Incorporated at the end of 2007. The elimination of these two line items allowed the Board to consider placing other things in the new budget. Another new line item is a Work Crew to Ahuas , Honduras in February 2008 to make repairs to the hospital there. Interest has been expressed about exploring possible mission outreach work in the Czech Republic , so a small amount has been placed in the budget to investigate various possibilities. (see below for 2008 Mission Budget)
